| The engines on this Explorer are a much newer type than the originals. The ship was making a routine delivery to an Exploriens base when a landing guidance error sent it through the path of the main comm beam. Since the magnetic feedback blowout that occurred was caused by their own malfunctions, the Exploriens offered to repair the ship. Unfortunately, their technology wasn't very compatible with the original engines, so the entire primary thruster array had to be replaced. The Exploriens team got a little more of a technical challenge than they had hoped for, but the result is that this particular ship can fold at 5 times the rate of a stock Starfleet Explorer. | |
