Woohoo- I'm the Cool Site of the Week over at Lugnet! To celebrate, I have a few new things here. For one, I replaced the main site background and the space background with images that I hope are a little more subdued {yawn... so where's the interesting part of the update?} Have no fear- there's some new content as well. The Blackthief is a new addition to my space creations, though it's not terribly strong on originality. I've also added instructions to the Mobile Command Post's page and a few new pics of the VIP Transport. The Delta-1 Comlink Center has been up for a couple of weeks but never got mentioned here. Similarly, I added my first ray-tracing work to the Armored Rocket Pod page but never mentioned it. As for the next few days, I'm hoping to get pictures of my Spiffcraft and Spiffhearse posted ASAP!
November 30, 2000:
I have 3 more space creations up- the Cosmic Dart, Twin Patrol, and Geosurvey Rover. These are all entries in the current Classic Space Set Design contest.
November 27, 2000:
A friend of mine, Chris Callahan, has asked me to display his Classic Space contest entry, so I've added his Shuttle Buggy to my Guest Creations page.
November 21, 2000:
It has been many years since I built anything technical (as in using Technic parts such as gears and such). For my return to the world of Technic, what is more appropriate than a Duplo - Technic - Znap creation? I am very pleased to display my Perpetual Duplo Motion Machine, a device designed to defeat the shutdown timer on the Duplo battery-powered trains. I hope to display this at the NMRA show this coming weekend at the Pacific Science Center, and to get some shots of it in use.
November 16, 2000:
Here's a change from the current trend- I've got a new creation up that has absolutely nothing to do with Classic Space. Check out the Dark Futuron-converted Message Interceptor.
November 15, 2000:
The Armored Rocket Pod has been updated with some new shots. These include pictures of alternate models.
November 13, 2000:
Today brings 3 new classic space creations. The Space Scout Transport and Astro Stalker both use more recycled set name bits. The Armored Rocket Pod didn't lend itself well to such naming conventions.
November 3, 2000:
I have another space creation up today. It's a transport ship, done up in the tradition (or at least the colors) of the original classic space theme ships, and I'm entering it in the classic space set design contest. Recycling parts of names from various classic space sets, I have dubbed this the Modular Cargo Transport. It's even a fairly appropriate name.

I've never been much of a fan of virtual Lego creations, but I must admit that such tools are extremely handy for creating instructions. So I finally gave in yesterday and downloaded MLCAD and LDraw. The learning curve for MLCAD isn't too bad- I fired it up for the first time less than 24 hours ago, and I already created something useful!
Check out the updated Starfleet Scout page- I added links to an instruction page and an LDraw dat file. Feel free to send any useful comments on the presentation. November 1, 2000:
Hey- I'm listed on the Cool Lego Site of the Week page at Lugnet.com! I'm not actually the cool site this week, but I'm in the running for next week. I'm up against some pretty stiff competition for that at the moment, so I'm crossing my fingers.
In other news, I finally got around to posting the comments gleaned from my coworkers with regard to Gator Landing. That's located off of the Misc page. There is also a classic space set design contest going on right now on Lugnet. I entered three of my existing creations on my space page, and I plan to make at least 3 more entries. One of those is sitting right next to me, ready for the photo shoot. I hope to get it posted within a day or two. Another is half-built. And then there are a number of other ideas percolating in the back of my head... September 12, 2000:
Today brings 7 new additions to my creations. All are somewhat train-related.
In my space section, I've added 2 monorail trains and a monorail terminal. Check out the larger-capacity Futuron Cargo Monorail, the Dark Futuron Passenger Monorail, and the Exploriens Terminal. All of these were on display at PNLTC's G2K event. In the train section, I've got a Duplo train and station. Then I have two 4.5 volt steam trains, one for freight and one for passengers. The fourth addition isn't really trains, but is a set of buildings and cars in classic 70's style to provide a cityscape to match the ancient trains. I call this 70's-Ville. September 6, 2000:
2 new space creations are up today. The first is a medium-sized freighter with a white and twotone grey color scheme with blue windows. This is the Matriarch. The second is just a cockpit module for an ongoing project. But it isn't even the final cockpit design- just a prototype.
September 5, 2000:
Sorry I haven't been updating my site much lately- it's not from a lack of activity. I've simply been too busy with real-life stuff to bother with the site.
First, I want to state that I'm now a proud member of the Pacific Northwest Lego Train Club (PNLTC). This is a really great bunch of people who know how to have fun and share the Lego hobby. I really enjoyed making it to my first show, the Guinness-record setting event in the Seattle Center August 17-20 (aka G2K, as in Guinness Book in the year 2000). Felt kind of like being at Legoland, but being one of the people who gets to walk through the display. Along with joining a train club, I now have a new section of my creations, a Trains page! On it, of course, is a train that I ran in the G2K show. More trains will come soon, though have no fear- this is still primarily a Space site. There is also a new Guest Creations page, which is for displaying the creations of others. Check out Josh's Battle Wagon! There is more to come in this section as well. I've also switched providers in the last week, so the site is still undergoing some changes. You may have noticed that the whole hafhead.com domain was dead all weekend. Or maybe you didn't. In any case, the most obvious effect of the switch at this point is that I don't have all of my space creations uploaded yet. This is simply a matter of time. July 21, 2000:
3 more new creations are here today: The Intruder is a small armed freighter in the tradition of the Blacktron Invader. The Starfleet Explorer is a medium freighter in 2nd-generation Classic Space colors. And the Drone Pilot is a cockpit replacement for my modular component system.
In less interesting news, I cleaned up the Blacktron background image after having seen it on a 256-color machine. Eww! June 30, 2000:
I have a whopping 5 new models to show off today! In spaceships, I have the A-9 Transport, the classic Starfleet Scout, and a hacked-up Blacktron Invader. In ground vehicles, I have the Mule and the classic Mobile Command Post.
I hope that you enjoy the new additions enough to come back soon- there's more to come in the next week or two. I've already done photo shoots for 2 other creations, and I've got the camera right here... between me and a couple more new creations. June 12, 2000:
Nothing exciting today, just some website maintenance. I fixed the broken webring link on the index page. Not my fault- the webring changed one of the arguments to the redirector. Also, I finally found the fair play section on the official Lego web site. Accordingly, I made some text changes in various places here.
On the brighter side, I've had a surge in opportunities to get at my Lego collection recently, so I cranked out quite a few new models in addition to doing some minor reconstruction on a couple of older ones. As soon as I get a chance to do a photo shoot and some time to work on copy, I'll have 5 new models to show here. May 25, 2000:
I added the VIP Transport to My Creations. As I typed up the text for it, I realized that I probably went overboard on acquiring all these big space wheels. I have 3 ground vehicles in my office now that all use them, and the wheels are so big that they tend to visually dominate the models. I'll have to take special care to ensure that the vehicles I make with the rest of them don't all end up looking too similar.
May 19, 2000:
Woohoo! Two updates in two days! Today I bring the Gyrfalcon Fighter, another creation that demonstrates the amount of grey you get with the Star Wars sets.
May 18, 2000:
The first update of the year comes today, four and a half months into the year. I clearly don't spend enough time with my Lego bricks. Today's tasty treat is the set of Striders I created out of my Star Wars pieces. Gotta love all the grey you get with those!
Also- I don't have images yet, but I've been working on a number of other projects recently. I redid the cockpit on the cargo-hauling ground vehicle (which needs a better name as well) to make it interchangeable with the cockpit on the B-1 Transport ship. I then made 3 more cockpits to match this connection type and color scheme, which will go onto various other constructions that are currently in the works. It looks like I'll be doing most of my vehicles in this size class in this manner, so that all cockpits can be swapped around. Hafhead.com Home Send Me Mail © 1999-2004 Tony Hafner |
